Bang! I discovered Contemporary Art. A switch has been flicked that cannot be turned off. I want to tell everyone I meet how exciting and life changing Art is!
I am currently a student studying (General Foundation) Art & Design at DJCAD in Dundee. I started here in September 2023.I returned to education during the pandemic in 2021 to West Lothian College. I had thought being a mature student might be a disadvantage but I realised I have more life experience to draw inspiration from.
My work explores the themes of human Connection to the Earth and of Motherhood, the similarities between them and of how we can recognise these to change our world for the better. Motherhood is something I can draw personal experience from. Researching our Connection with the earth, I have found fascinating. I am particularly interested in Water Consciousness and Electromagnetism.
I want my art to inspire and have a positive impact on the world. I believe art is powerful and can change lives.
I am affectionately known as "Miss Jenga" by my family. I've never had a nick-name before - so I am taking the opportunity to use it! Life may have knocked me down, but I continue to get back up and build myself higher. I hope I inspire others to change their lives if they feel unfulfilled.
The outdoors and nature inspire me. I enjoy listening to all of natures sounds and try to incorporate this in my art.
The natural beauty of my homeland, Scotland is a great source in my art.
My children influence my art, seeing them change and grow everyday.
I adore visiting galleries and going to exhibitions. This triggers my imagination and helps me gain a better understanding of the creative process.
I enjoy frequenting charity shops to look for curios to use in my art assemblages and using found organic objects such as twigs and leaves.
I am also researching Eastern Philosophies and find this intriguing.
